Flip HD Camcorder – Does This Mini Cam Live Up to the Promises?

It’s finally out! With much anticipation, the Flip HD camcorder is now for sale. While many people are in a rush to get excited about the ‘latest and greatest’ thing; is this device really worth all the fuss?

First, it’s helpful to fully understand the features. The MinoHD is literally the smallest HD camcorder that has ever been made. It certainly won’t weigh you down at a mere 3.3 ounces. That means you can carry it with you wherever you go. That’s handy, but sometimes a small size can be cumbersome.

The next feature you’ll be interested in is the storage capacity. This holds a full 60 minutes. The plus here, and it’s a big one, is that you won’t have to buy tapes or memory cards to get this to hold your video. That means less problems for you when you can’t find the tape!

Another feature is the flip-out USB arm. When you usually upload video to your computer you have to do so through a special device or a standard USB cable. While some camcorders do include them you often have to buy them on your own. That makes the Flip HD a great deal- it’s just a matter of flipping out the arm and popping it in the slot. So, that’s a plus.

The resolution is where the HD fanatics start to get a little worried. Thankfully, there is really no reason to be too worried here. It is true HD, though not top of the line. You’ll enjoy 720p with the Flip HD camcorder.

Finally, there are so many people who want to stay as connected as possible to the world these days. That means uploading your video to sites like YouTube and Myspace. There is software included with this package that will pretty much do that automatically for you, save some hook ups and signing in. The Sony HDR-FX7 is the first consumer level HDV 1080i recorder and player in the world. Not everyone gave positive reviews for this high definition camcorder.
